Dear Parishioners, As we find ourselves at the end of April, there are a lot of activities planned, not only for this weekend, but in the month of May. After the 11:00 am Mass this Sunday, we will have a May Crowning in the Mary Garden. All are welcome to attend. The end of April also signals that we are wrapping up our Faith Formation classes for the school year. A special thanks to all our volunteers and catechists who made it such a wonderful year. I also ask your special prayers these next two weekends as some students prepare for their First Communion. A special Mass will be held for these students and their families on both May 7 and 14. The upcoming month of May also signals that the special Diocesan Synod for our Priests will be coming to a close. On behalf of all our priests here, we thank you for your prayers for us and more vocations, not only your prayers at the Sunday Masses, but in the upcoming month as all the priests in the diocese as well as delegates from throughout the diocese bring the Synod to a close. This Synod helps all of us to see that our group of priests continues to shrink and how the need for more vocations is more important than ever to continue the Sacramental life of the Church. In mid-May, there will also be a week when all the priests will go on retreat together. I will have more information on this next week. As all this draws to a close, Bishop Bradley will issue a special Synod document at the conclusion of this special year. As Bishop referred to this several times in his talks, the Synod is “a once in a lifetime experience.” Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
