Dear Parishioners, Love or Football…love or football…love or football? Now that the NFL has added an additional game to the season, Super Bowl falls right before the celebration of Valentine's Day. I know it’s going to be a hard choice for some whether to take your date out to dinner, or if it’s going to be a Super Bowl party this year! Even though Valentine’s Day is a great day to celebrate love, it’s also a day to remind us how we need to show love and kindness to each other every day. It’s always easy to talk about love, but truly living a life filled with patience and kindness is not always an easy thing to do. Valentine’s Day only happens once a year, yet our Lord reminds us that love is a part of who we are and our daily living. It’s that “daily living” part that often trips us up! I am giving you a challenge this Valentine’s Day: How can you become better at “love?” Not just the love of your spouse and your family, but a love and kindness that extends to everyone around you. How do you become better at this? Let the Lord help. I’m guessing some of you are going to end up with a nice dinner out. And others are going to end up with a Superbowl party. Maybe some of you will do both! Whatever you do, I hope you will take from this column today to make love a daily part of your life and ask the Lord to help you with this task. Thanks for reading!
