Dear Parishioners, What do we do in the “in between” times? That’s how I feel as we approach this final weekend of January. We have already had several weeks of winter, and the Christmas decorations are stored away for another year. It’s not time yet for the spiritual season of Lent. It’s too soon to think about Spring. We still have a few weeks until the Superbowl! What do we do in these in between times? Do these in between times make it harder for us to live our faith? Our first reading today from Jeremiah reminds us that God sends us forth to preach the Gospel. In this Jubilee of the Holy Spirit, we think about the gifts of the Spirit and how they continue to help us live out that mission. In a world that seems less and less willing to listen to the message of the Gospel, or to accept the faith, we might be facing the same challenges that Jeremiah faced as he would bring God’s word to the people of Israel. It’s not always easy to be a witness or an example to others of how to live out the Gospel. Yet each day, when we wake up, we need to make that decision to truly live our faith to the best of our ability. Come Holy Spirit, strengthen us each day to truly live as a witness to the faith! Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
