Dear Parishioners, It’s Vacation Bible School Week! This will indeed be an exciting week for our parish and Catholic Community in the Kalamazoo and Portage areas. Every time I check with our staff, the number of those participating continues to grow. Due to the large number of participants, most of our buildings and rooms will be occupied or set up for this purpose. A special thank you to our volunteers who have been working on VBS (some of whom have been planning this for the past year!). Let us hope and pray for good weather this week. If I think back a year, we had a really hot stretch of days. I hope it’s a little cooler this year! Through the Word of God, may our youth grow in faith and love of our Lord!
Speaking of a new Bishop, we are just a week away from this great celebration for our Diocese as we welcome our Bishop elect Edward Lohse. The installation and ordination of a Bishop begins next week Monday, and his ordination will be on Tuesday. This will be the 5th Bishop that I have served under during my 30 years. The ordination on Tuesday will be a ticketed event due to the number of priests, visiting bishops, and family members for this Mass. However, this event will be livestreamed, and we invite you to watch with us in the church sanctuary on Tuesday. The Ordination Mass is on the 25 of July, starting at 2:00 pm. We should have enough space for everyone who wants to attend and watch it on our projection screens. Most importantly, as we begin this time of transition and welcome a new Bishop, please keep Msgr. Lohse in your prayers! Thanks for reading!
