Dear Parishioners, It’s interesting how all the transfers of priests have fallen on different weeks this month (instead of everyone leaving on the same day as has been the practice in our diocese). Fr. Benedict safely traveled to the Archdiocese of LA on June 10 and is beginning his assignment. Fr. Ben left last week for his sabbatical time in Vietnam (he returns to the Diocese of Kalamazoo in October). That means it is just Fr. Tom and me right now. However, Fr. Tom is packing his boxes to move to St. Monica (and continue as Hackett’s chaplain) in early July. Thankfully, Fr. Antony Rajesh, who is finishing up his time at St. Joseph parish here in Kalamazoo, will be joining us at St. Catherine to help at the parish on July 5, and will continue to serve the parish for the next few months. As many of you know, I head up the Mission Office here in the diocese for the Propagation of the Faith. I have invited the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (the Spiritans) to send a priest to give a Mission Appeal next weekend, July 1 and 2.
We will be welcoming Fr Mark Enemali to St. Catherine. We will learn about his mission work and how we can support it. There will be a second collection next weekend for this purpose. Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
