Dear Parishioners, It’s almost officially spring and we have made it to the 2nd Sunday of Lent. I hope that your Lenten season is off to a good start. I’m glad it’s almost spring because we actually had a dose of real winter this year. Yes, your priests are still out in the parking lot on Saturday mornings hearing confessions. Some days it has been a little bit snowy and cold, but we have all lived to talk about it. Much more frequently, especially in these past cold and snowy weeks, I am getting the question: How long are you going to do confessions outside? For the past two years, we always thought it was going to be a short time. Two years later, I’m still writing about being outside for confessions. Yet, as the mask requirements go away and the advice from the CDC and others start to give us a little hope, I think the days of standing in the parking lot for Drive In Confessions are coming to an end. We are still planning to be out there all of the Lenten season and Holy Week. Unless something changes in the next few weeks, it looks like we will most likely be back indoors for confessions sometime after Easter. Stay tuned: More on this to come. In the meantime, stop by between 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturdays for your Drive In Confession! Last weekend I was able to take five candidates from our RCIA program to the Cathedral to meet the Bishop for the Rite of Election. This is always a great celebration and I’ve only missed it one year-the start of the pandemic. Please keep our candidates and all who will be receiving the Sacraments this Easter in your prayers! Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
