Dear Parishioners, By the time you read this column, those who are homeowners will be looking at big piles of leaves that need to be raked or picked up. The beauty of the fall colors comes with a price: a leaf rake or a leaf blower. Yet, God does a wonderful job of painting with the colors that we enjoy each fall. As we find ourselves in these last weeks of October, Halloween is also on everyone’s mind (especially those who like candy and costumes). For the Church, this celebration of All Hallow’s Eve means that we celebrate a Holy Day, the Solemnity of All Saints Day. Mark your calendars. The full schedule of Masses for the Vigil and the 1st of November will be in next week’s bulletin. The upcoming month of November also means we remember those who have gone before us: All Souls Day. This past month, I’ve been thinking a lot about my dad. As you might have heard me mention before, my parents married late in life, and I was their only child. The reason I have thought about my dad so much the past few weeks is that he would have celebrated his 100th birthday in October. He’s just one of many I think about, and all of us, in the coming days, will remember and pray for those who are no longer with us. We will be having our annual parish Night of Remembrance on the evening of All Souls Day, November 2. Thanks for reading! Fr Mark
