Francis was born in Naples, Italy. He was a pious young man and strongly desired the Eucharist as a young person. He studied to become a priest and was ordained at the age of 23. After serving in parish work for years, Francis had a longing to become a Jesuit. He was drawn to St. Francis Xavier and wanted to preach the Gospel in the far east, but his superiors asked him to stay in Naples. He obeyed and became a powerful missionary to some of the hardest people in Naples. He would preach int the streets, in prisons, and to prisoners of war. He founded a pawn shop to help those in need and led prostitutes to know the love of Christ and even built an orphanage for their children. St. Francis Girolamo spent his life working with the people of Naples and died on May 11, 1716.
