***A NOTE ABOUT FABRIC for Sewists***
Prewashed, 200 thread count or more cotton is fine. You can up-cycle (ex. scrubs or sheets) as long as the fibers are intact. There is A LOT of chatter about tie-backs - at this time, we recommend bias tape tie-backs for all sewn patterns.
Kalamazoo Gospel Mission
They need volunteers who are healthy and feel comfortable serving to help in Food Service. Please contact Matt Furrow at mfurrow@kzoogospel.org for more information. They also need new and unused "To Go" containers (they use 400 boxes per day), cleaning supplies, and monetary donations as they are experiencing increased costs as more and more people come to them for help and support. Rescued Treasures, Rescued Wheels, and Simple Treasures are closed because of the COVID-19 crisis. Kalamazoo Gospel Mission has suspended the acceptance of donations and business hours until further notice.
Kalamazoo County Government
Kalamazoo County Government is calling on all local people who sew to make and donate face masks as the community continues to prepare for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The donated face masks are distributed upon request to community partners that work with high risk, vulnerable populations such as first responders, hospitals, shelters, long-term care facilities, and other front line staff. See the full announcement here. For pattern information, please click here.
