Just a reminder that this coming Thursday, August 15th, is a Holy Day of Obligation, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As we remember how our Lady was taken up into Heaven at the moment of her death, we seek her intercession on this upcoming Solemnity. We will have a Vigil Mass at 7:00 pm on Wednesday and both a morning and evening Mass on Thursday. Please join us for this special Marian feast.
When we reach the middle of August, it’s not too many more days left before the start of school. I believe that our Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo start next week and most everyone will be starting school the final week of August. I hope that all our students and their families will have a good school year ahead of them!
Now that we have reached three months since the tornado hit our community, our staff has a pretty good idea what our expenses are going to be after insurance covers our losses. Hopefully, by the time you read this column, you will start seeing some progress with restoring the roof on the rectory and I will start taking some more pictures of things coming back together. As I have asked all along, please continue to pray that all the work goes well in the coming weeks and months and your priests will be living back on the church campus sooner rather than later.
