By the time we normally arrive at the 4th Sunday of Advent, we expect that only a few days remain. However, this is the year where we actually have another full week of Advent before we celebrate Christmas! As much as some of us want Christmas to be here, we still need to wait.
Sometimes when we have a week like this before an important day, we waste our time. We don’t want to start anything; we don’t want to take on anything new. We just want the important day to come! As much as we may be tempted to do so, that’s not the point of Advent. Every day in this Advent season gives us another chance to come closer to the Lord. Do we really want to lose this opportunity?
As I reminded you in my column from last week, we have a special schedule next weekend for the celebration of Christmas. Christmas Day falls on a Sunday and we will do a Christmas Mass schedule next weekend versus the “normal” Sunday Mass schedule. Please keep this in mind when you are planning your schedule for next weekend.
In these final days of Advent 2022, may we prepare our hearts as we wait for the birth of our Lord! Please join us next weekend at one of the Christmas Masses to celebrate our Lord’s birth.
