Dear Parishioners,
Did you miss our Penance Service this past week? Don’t worry! There are still plenty of other opportunities. Even though we have now arrived at the Second Sunday of Advent, there is still time to go to confession. We continue to offer two priests to hear your confessions on Saturday mornings from 11 AM - 12 PM. Also, please check the schedule in today’s bulletin for additional penance services that are being offered in our Kalamazoo area parishes in the next few weeks.
Normally the 8th of December would be the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the Patronal Feast Day of the United States. But since it falls on a Sunday, the celebration has been transferred to tomorrow, Monday the 9th of December, and there is no obligation to attend this Holy Day (see my column last week for a detailed explanation). However, if you would like to join us tomorrow, there will be one Mass celebrated at 9:15 AM in the main church.
Since this is the 2nd Sunday of Advent, that means that we are just 17 days away from Christmas Day (for all those who are starting to count). With Christmas on a Wednesday, it makes it a little easier for the Mass schedule this year. Please check this bulletin for our Christmas schedule and I hope you can join us as we prepare to celebrate our Lord’s birth.
But don’t give up on Advent yet! Prepare your hearts and your minds for the Lord. For when He was sent among us, He changed our world!
Fr. Mark
