Dear Parishioners, It’s the half way point of Lent! This Sunday reminds us that we are just two weeks away from Palm Sunday and Holy Week. It’s just three Sundays away from Easter. We are entering into the holiest and most sacred time of the Church year as we prepare for our Lord’s Passion and Death. The Latin name for this Sunday is Laetare Sunday. This day sets the tone for the celebration of the Easter mysteries and the priests and deacons are permitted to wear the Rose colored vestments at Mass. In many ways, this Sunday is like reaching the halfway point of a long journey or trip. We are a lot closer, but we are not there yet. What more can we do in the last weeks of Lent? We can certainly become more focused on what is to come and live our faith life accordingly. If you haven’t had an opportunity to attend a penance service this Lent, several more are scheduled this week at the surrounding parishes. Please remember that we also continue to have several priests available every Saturday, starting at 11:00 am, to hear your confessions. For a full schedule and times of Holy Week Masses and Services, we have the schedule for the second half of Lent published in today’s bulletin. Please note that there were a couple of typos in the one we issued at the beginning of Lent. All times and dates have been verified and corrected on this version of the schedule. In case you missed our announcement last weekend, due to health reasons, Fr. Bill Jacobs will conclude his time of service with our parish on March 19. He is in the process of moving to Wisconsin to be closer to his family. We thank him for his priestly service to all of us here at St. Catherine and wish him luck in Wisconsin. He will return on June 11 to celebrate his 20th anniversary with all your other priest’s anniversaries at a planned parish event.
