Dear Parishioners, In most of the Dioceses in the United States, we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord this weekend. It is an important part of the Easter season as it reminds us of that day, 40 days after Easter, that the disciples watched the Lord ascend into Heaven. Jesus had taught them everything that He could during the three years that He was with them and taught them the importance of the Eucharist and other things after His Resurrection. He had prepared them for the reception of the Holy Spirit and the beginnings of the Church as we know it today. Yet, on that day of the Ascension, the disciples did not know what was to come. But, they had also learned to trust in the Lord and that He would always be with them. This 12th of May is also the day that we celebrate Mother’s Day! We remember and pray for our mothers and grandmothers and the special care they have given to us during our lifetime. For some of us, our moms and grandmas have already gone to their eternal reward. Yet, they still will always have a special place in our hearts. A special thanks to all our mothers and all you do for us! At St. Catherine, since the weather is getting nicer, we have been lining up our summer projects. We have been having some annual work done on the parking lot these past few weeks to maintain it. Living in Michigan, we all realize the beatings that our driveways and parking lots take with the freeze and thawing of the winter season. Also, there needs to be some concrete replacement on the west parking lot, especially around the double entry doors. When we know for sure when this concrete work is being done, we will try to give you as much notice as possible. Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
