If you look at your Catholic calendar this week, this is one of those confusing weeks for many people across the United States. A few dioceses have kept the traditional 40 days after Easter for the celebration of the Ascension. However, most of the diocese in the United States have transferred the Ascension to next Sunday, May 29. That is the case in our diocese and throughout Michigan. Please note, for these reasons, this coming Thursday is NOT a holy day of obligation, for the feast has been transferred. On Saturday, our diocese was blessed with one of our seminarians being ordained as a transitional deacon. Rev. Mr. Jack Pfeiffer continues on his journey towards priesthood. Please keep him in your prayers this coming year as he completes his studies. Just a few weeks from now, we will have a second ordination. Another seminarian, Rev. Mr. Jacob Thomas was ordained a transitional deacon last year. He soon will be a priest of this diocese. I also ask for your prayers as he will be ordained, at the Cathedral, on June 4. Thanks to everyone who has made a pledge to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal 2022. We need to hear from every parish family to reach our parish goal of $260,643. If you haven’t done so, please return your completed pledge card or make a pledge online at diokzoo.org (and select the Give tab). I ask you to continue to keep this annual campaign in your prayers as well as the work and ministry of the Church throughout our Diocese. Thanks for reading! Fr. Mark
