The tradition of making reparation for the sins committed against the Sacred Heart of Jesus began when Jesus himself requested this devotion of St. Gertrude the Great in the late 13th century and again of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century. Specifically, Jesus requested reception of Holy Communion offered in reparation to his Most Sacred Heart on First Fridays. The Church for her part, established the tradition of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the form of Eucharistic Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament (the Holy Communion Host) on First Fridays. Fr. Mark has graciously granted permission to renew First
Friday Adoration at St. Catherine of Siena parish. First Friday Adorations will begin on the memorial of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4th, 2024, and will go in Trinity Chapel from 3 PM to 7 PM on the First Friday of each month. The period of Adoration will consist of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 PM, the Angelus followed by Vespers (Evening prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours of the Divine Office) at 6 PM., silent adoration, and Benediction at 6:50 PM.
