The Lord has worked all throughout Ann Browning's life in many ways, and we are so thankful that he called her to us! Ann was born and raised in the Benton Harbor/St. Joe area, where she attended 12 years of Catholic school and graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic. After moving to Kalamazoo to attend college, she met her husband Tom and they have been married for 43 years and have a miracle child, Laura, who is an elementary school teacher. Ann left the Catholic Church in her early 20’s but came back about 12 years ago. She was drawn to St. Catherine's because of our church's dedication to social justice issues, and her interest in advocating for the role of women in the Catholic Church. A very memorable and spiritually moving experience for Ann was going to Philadelphia in 2015 for Pope Francis's U.S. visit. She had volunteered to help the handicapped navigate the crowds and venues and got to be up close to the Pope. While getting her Master’s in Social Work, Ann was able to do her internship at St. Catherine’s, working within pastoral care. Ann has been a Eucharistic Minister, a lector, an usher, she has helped coordinate blood drives, been on the Parish Health Committee, and has visited homebound parishioners. Ann has recently joined Women of the Word and has very much enjoyed studying the word and getting to know these wonderful women. Ann works as a therapist at Desert Streams Christian counseling and Tom is employed at Pfizer as an HVAC technician. The couple likes to go to the movies and play board and card games and Disney World is their favorite vacation spot. Ann's heart has led her back to our Lord, who has called her to get to know more Catholic women and make our church a more personal and welcoming experience for all of us.
