St. Catherine's is very fortunate to welcome BACK Karen Zawadzki to our parish family! Karen and her late husband, Walter, previously lived in Portage and were St. Catherine parishioners from 1992 to the end of 2000 before they moved "back home" to the Detroit area. Karen's son, his wife, and their two children moved to Portage in July and she subsequently moved here in October to be closer to them. Having a love of music and being a talented musician, Karen had previously been a member of the choir and was a cantor. She now leads a weekly rosary after Daily Mass on Tuesdays in Trinity Chapel, which all are welcome to attend! When we asked Karen what she enjoys most about volunteering her time to the parish, she replied that it's all about doing your part, and being patient in God's plan for each of us. "I think instead of calling it volunteering I would prefer to say - doing my part within the family of faith God has gifted me with. I believe God sometimes works on our hearts for a long time and then one day, there it is, that something He's been preparing you for. Ever since the time I made my formal Marian Consecration a number of years ago, I have been growing in my love for the Blessed Mother and the rosary, which has brought me to today. I'm humbled and grateful that Fr. Mark would allow a newcomer - me - to help with the renewal of the Tuesday rosary group."
Karen, we are blessed that the Lord brought you back to us, and thankful for your continued prayers to our Blessed Mother.
