Please join with us to congratulate long-time parishioners Max and Frieda Walter on their 70th wedding anniversary, on September 5! This is a truly incredible milestone, and they serve as beautiful models of what true love and service in a relationship looks like. Max and Frieda moved to Portage in 1968, and became parishioners that same year. Over the years they both have given so much to our parish family. Max loves woodworking and made several wood art pieces that are still in the church today! He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus and various other men’s groups they had in the past. Frieda was a Eucharistic minister for several years and she also sewed for the Giving Tree. Max and Frieda have four children, Janet, Jane, Dean, and Dale; 7 grandchildren, Kyle, Blair, Haley, Eric, Whit, Kate, and Colin, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Before they retired, Max worked for Frito-Lay and had a delivery route, while Frieda worked for Upjohn in food service. Unfortunately they can no longer attend Mass and other events at St. Catherine, as they moved into assisted living last year. However, they still participate in the Mass with regular
visits from our Deacons to pray and deliver Holy Communion. Max and Frieda are sharing a room and would love to receive any cards or communications from parishioners. If you would like to send them cards for their anniversary their address is: Friendship Village; Room #2110; 1400 N. Drake Rd.; Kalamazoo 49006.
