Sacristans come early to set up for Mass and make sure there are a sufficient number of liturgical ministers present.  They prepare the chalices, the cruets, the linens, and the liturgical books.  After Mass, they clean the vessels and collect the linens for the laundry, and put things away if it is the last Mass of the day.

Sacristans are assigned according to their availability.
